ROLE

A growing resource based company is looking for Web/Graphic/Media Designer responsible for taking a main role in a variety of creative assignments such as web design, print materials, media projects and electronic marketing assignments. This is a long-term position with a fast growing Vancouver based resource company.


  • Producing high-end promotional materials, including print and web materials, booklets, posters, maps, brochures and electronic newsletters – to name but a few.
  • Liaising with management on design and content specifications.
  • Maintaining the corporate website which includes updating web pages and managing newsletters etc.
  • Ensuring a consistent brand identity among all visual media. 
  • Managing content for multiple projects; company graphical materials and website design project. Working with management to ensure aggressive deadlines are met.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to numerous changes and last minute pre-press updates.
  • Able to produce results quickly when deadlines require so – in other words, to know what will pass vs. what is high quality.
SKILLS

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop. Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver (or similar – no Frontpage). Some experience in Final Cut Pro Studio is an asset but not required.
  • Portfolio showcasing innovative and professional concepts and creative design solutions in Print, Web and Multi-Media.
  • 3+ years (minimum) proven experience in web, multimedia and graphic design.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, Ability to read and write hard coded html/xhtml an asset. Basic Knowledge of PHP,  XML, JavaScript and Action script are an asset.
  • Excellent understanding of typography, color theory, and layout. Excellent eye for design (from Modern to Traditional).
  • Knowledge of print production and pre-press knowledge.
  • Good English communication skills, both spoken & written knowledge of second language is an asset (not required).
  • Ability to take direction and constructive criticism – no place for ego in our team environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and work well under pressure.
  • Good understanding of business (and its demands), ideally the mining and/or oil and gas industry (an asset, not required)
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work longer hours, if required at times, to meet deadlines (not on a regular basis).
SALARY

This long-term position holds potential for the eventual position of Senior Designer/Creative Director.
